Different Types Of Houston Shutters
Houston shutters are commonly used for decorative
purposes on the outside or the inside of windows.
Some shutters also serve useful purposes in addition
to adding aesthetic value to a home. Here, we will
look at different types of Houston shutters and
their uses.
Colonial shutters are the traditional type that
mount outside a window and fold back against the
side of a house. Often, these are purely decorative,
never being closed over the window. However, they
can be closed to limit the amount of light or air
flow through a window or to protect the glass from
breakage.
Hurricane shutters come in different styles and
appearances. They are commonly recommended in areas
that are prone to hurricanes as a means of
protecting one's home. They protect the glass of the
windows and provide security in that they deter
looters. Hurricane shutters are normally easy to
open and close for the homeowner, but difficult to
force open or remove without the proper tools when
they are locked in place.
Plantation shutters are commonly used as window
treatments on the inside of windows. They typically
feature a center bar that allows one to open or
close the louvers to control the amount of light
and/or air flow that comes through them.
