Houston shutters are commonly used for decorative purposes on the outside or the inside of windows. Some shutters also serve useful purposes in addition to adding aesthetic value to a home. Here, we will look at different types of Houston shutters and their uses.

Colonial shutters are the traditional type that mount outside a window and fold back against the side of a house. Often, these are purely decorative, never being closed over the window. Plantation shutters are commonly used as window treatments on the inside of windows. They typically feature a center bar that allows one to open or close the louvers to control the amount of light and/or air flow that comes through them.
